Hey there, we’re Em and Jules – the co-founders and co-hosts of Girls Talk Cyber. Let us tell you a bit about ourselves and where GTC came from.

Girls Talk Cyber recognises that traditionally, cyber security information has often been perceived as a masculine topic, characterised by black and red colours, hooded figures in basements, highly technical content, and sometimes being scary – particularly when topics and impacts are unknown. Hence, Girls Talk Cyber have, and look to continue, breaking down the intimidating perception of cyber security, its jargon, and barriers to information and education. All the while doing so in a medium which is fun and accessible to our target community.

Girls Talk Cyber offers something for everyone. For those who learn with stories, we have built storytelling into our shows. For those who are aural learners, the podcast is for them. The visual learners can keep up to date with our social media graphics and YouTube channel where episodes can be found. Our younger demographics can check out our short videos and reels, and those who prefer longer content can sink into one of our longer episodes. So what are you waiting for? Go check it out or get in touch if you’d like to chat more!

Meet your hosts

Emily Pendlebury

Emily Pendlebury (Em) is co-founder and co-host of the Girls Talk Cyber podcast. Em recognises that her peers often find cyber security complex and overwhelming, which drives her enthusiasm for breaking down cyber security challenges into meaningful concepts, encouraging actionable changes and shifting perceptions that cyber security is “too hard”.

As a Manager at one of Australia’s top cyber security firms, Em leads strategy teams, advising and supporting some of the country’s largest organisations in achieving their cyber security goals. Em uses her expertise in risk and compliance, security operations, crisis communications, and consulting to help clients – from frontline teams to executives and boards – understand the impact of cyber security.

Passionate about increasing diversity in the cyber security industry, Em is a strong advocate for more women to join the field, helping to address the need for a broader range of voices in the workforce.

Julia Wulf-Rhodes

Her previous experience involves consulting across public and private sector organisations in Australia, New Zealand and abroad.
